WEST BOCA TACKLE FOOTBALL NAMED NRPA/USA FOOTBALL YOUTH FOOTBALL GRANT RECIPIENT

Boca Raton, FL - March 30, 2009 - West Boca Tackle Football was one of over 450 agencies from parks and recreation, schools and independent youth associations that applied for the NRPA/USA Football Youth Grant in partnership with the National Recreation & Park Association (NRPA) and USA Football. Each applicant submitted detailed information concerning the state of youth football in their own community in order to qualify for funding through this competitive process. Both tackle and flag programs were considered for support across the country. West Boca Tackle Football received funding support in order to provide equipment and referees. This program effects 242 youth every spring and summer seasons.

126 agencies or organizations received funding totaling $300,000 to enhance programs and create stability for the future of youth football at the grassroots level. West Boca Tackle Football League was awarded a grant in the amount of $4,200.

"Our league is going into its third season, and gives every player the opportunity to play tackle football no matter of their weight, height, or playing ability. We do not cut any players from our league and every player has a starting offensive or defensive playing position. We believe that kids this age of 9 - 14 years old should be given the opportunity and confidence that hard work, good sportsmanship, and teamwork will lead them to great success and opportunities. Our belief is that players should play with kids of their own age rather than by weight divisions. Whether the players in our league want to play intramural or aspire to play in high school, West Boca Tackle Football League will give every player that opportunity to do so. We are expanding our league and offering Cheerleading Squads for those that would like to participate in our season," said West Boca Tackle Football League Vice President Glenn Remler.

"Millions of American youngsters, like those in Boca Raton, FL weave youth football into the fabric of our cities and towns," said USA Football Executive Director Scott Hallenbeck. "The game brings us together and instills team-first values for the kids who love to play it. USA Football is proud to partner with the National Recreation and Park Association to grant financial help for equipment, uniforms and other needs to keep America's favorite sport and its character-building qualities thriving."
